THE LEATHERIQUE WAY TO RESTORING YOUR BUMPERS

Please read all directions before beginning your project.  The project can be completed in several hours. Do not take short-cuts or skip steps, as Patience will be rewarded with a professional job.   Do not hesitate to call or email if you have any further questions.

1.        CONDITION & CLEAN

You will need Rejuvenator Oil, and a mix of 50%-50% household ammonia and isopropyl alcohol, soft brush, clean terry towels, and bucket of clean warm water.

Apply Rejuvenator Oil liberally to the bumpers to soften them and lift out emissions, air pollution. Don't miss this step, as reconditioning is what will make your bumpers "new". Allow to sit in a sunny spot for several hours or overnight.   Clean very well with soft brush and ammonia/alcohol mixture.  This mixture is what will cut any silicone, surface dirt, lifted dirt, and allow a good bond between the new BUMPBER BLACK and the bumper.   You may repeat this application every 6-12 months, depending on climate and automobile use.

2.         RECOLORING AND PROTECTING YOUR RUBBER

After the surface is conditioned, clean and prepped, simply brush or spray on your new dye.

You will need BUMPER BLACK Dye, and a top quality synthetic, acrylic type brushes and a dirt free environment, preferably indoors.

Stir the BUMPER BLACK well with a paint stirrer.   Continue to stir as you work.  Start with a small, inconspicuous area to get a feel for the product.  If it is too thick, stir in a small quantity of hot water to reach workable consistency.  Consistency will be rewarded with a professional job.  Allow each piece to dry thoroughly.  Apply second coat as necessary.  Clean brushes and all equipment immediately with soap and hot water.

3A RECOLORING WITH AIR TYPE SPRAY GUN

You will need Leatherique Dye, thinned about 25% with water, to start.  Set your equipment for a fine, almost dry mist coat.  Spray 2-3 fine mist coats to cover.  Clean your equipment with soap and hot water.

FINAL STEP

Allow project to remain untouched for 48 hours, as dye will be fragile.  Then with a very soft, lint free cloth, you may buff the finish to a natural luster.   Apply Prestine Clean to entire project to even our appearance and help dye settle into the rubber.   Use Prestine Clean for regular maintenance, detailing, and to help extend the life and beauty of your "new" bumpers.  Most Restoration Technicians sell or give the remainder of the Prestine Clean to their client, as this is "Simply the Best" way to ensure they will maintain their restored bumpers properly.  Avoid cleaners and treatments containing silicone, wax, petroleum by-products.
